What does a propane regulator do — and when to replace it.
What does a propane regulator do on a RV and when
should you replace it?
RV Regulators work fine, except they may fail once they reach
a certain age. Regulators maintain a constant amount of
pressure going into the RV for the furnace, stove, and
refrigerator. The furnace and refrigerator are very touchy
about how much pressure comes in. To much they won’t work
and to little pressure they won’t work. So save your self
some problems. Replace the regulator every ten years.
What does a propane regulator do
Regulators are pretty much standard for a RV unit. Be aware that the
diaphragm inside the regulator, that regulates the pressure, can harden
up and not operate correctly.
Consider $30-$40 for a new one (in 2015). But, be
aware even a new one could be faulty. So if your RV is ten
years old or older replace the regulator.
