use saline (only) solution. Can contact
solution be used as eye drops and not cause a
problem? The answer is Yes, but the problem is saline
solution does not have the qualities in it for clearing up the red
vessels that may be in your eye nor does it lubricate for dry
eyes. Yes, saline will feel good for a few moments, but not
last.

I
have, in the past, used saline solution for a temporary stay
over. Meaning I usually put lubricant eye drops in my eyes,
but because I ran out I used some saline solution. The
problem with saline solution is it lasts for only a few
minutes. If you use a drop or two in the mornings to get the
grit out of your eyes, then that is not a bad thing. I have
done that just to get the sandy feeling out. So can
contact solution be used as eye drops? Well, yes as
a temporary means of getting moisture in your eyes as long as it
is saline solution. Truthfully though, the best thing to use
for getting the morning sand out of your eyes is a lubricant type
eye drop. I use artificial tear drops that are essentially
the same as lubricant eye drops. Can contact
solution be uses as eye drops, maybe, but you would be
better using regular eye drops. If problems persist with dry
eyes see your eye doctor.
